Swing For Vets - Everyone is a winner: Atkinson, NH - One day after the 10th memorial of the 9/11 tragedies more than 70 people donated their time, some money, and their love of golf to benefit the Residents of the New Hampshire Veterans Home.

Kristina Hayford, the force behind the Swing For Vets golf tournament once again put on a terrific event held this year at the Atkinson Resort and Country Club in Atkinson, NH.

Registration prior to the event was handled smoothly, thanks to several volunteers (picture below). These volunteers were very helpful and pretty handy in selling the little extras that add to the fun - Mulligans, a ten foot piece of string (to shorten putts), and a chance for the Men to drive from the ladies tee on a par five (a true lifesaver!).

This year, the Swing For Vets organization selected The New Hampshire Soldier's Home in Tilton, NH as primary beneficiary charity for their work and support in providing care to New Hampshire's elderly and disabled US veterans. Please support the work of the NH Soldier's Home (and work on your golf game while you are at it) by joining us May 9th, 2009 at Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH for the Swing for Vets Annual Golf Tournament Scramble.

On Wednesday, November 19th, 2008 the proceeds of the Swing for Vets golf scramble held on Saturday, October 25th at the Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH were disbursed to two local veterans groups – the Family Support Services Group of the Air National Guard at Pease and the Disabled American Veterans – Newington Chapter.

The beneficiaries of this year’s event each received $450 from the inaugural event which was organized by a volunteer group of employees from the National Passport Center. The Swing for Vets scramble was created from a shared sense of utmost respect and gratitude for all the sacrifices made by all veterans and their families. The scramble was also made possible by the generous support of many local businesses with the premier sponsor, Gil’s Jeep of Stratham, offering every scramble golfer the chance to win a 2009 Jeep Liberty amongst many other prizes. The second annual Swing for Vets scramble is scheduled for May, 2009.

The Second Annual Swing for Vets Golf Tournament Scramble is almost here! On the grounds of the beautiful Pease Golf Course on Pease International Tradeport, the tournament is still accepting registrations up until 9:30am the day of the tournament (May 9th).

The tournament will start promptly at 10am with a shotgun start. There will be several items up for bid in our silent auction, including rounds of golf at Cape Arundal, Bethal Inn and Country Club, and nice packages for Sylvan Street Grill, Meadowmere Resort, and Federal Jack's Restaurant!

So come on out and help us support our veterans in a fun filled event you're sure to remember!
